I’m the girl at the gym with the oversized shirt and the spandex leggings that didn’t necessarily match, but didn’t matter either. I’m the same girl who didn’t let her twist-out dry all the way, and damned if she took the curlers out, so that only means stuffing them under the only gym hat I own, that’s kind-a too small.
The same girl will people watch too. Restricted to the elliptical because it’s comfortable, watching the workout Wednesday girls in their high waist get ups and crop tops; confidently knocking out their strength training workouts. (I’m a writer, so I do that. Watch people or whatever), but ain’t nobody worried ‘bout me, the three-year beginner still confined to easy cardio---but then I get to worrying about myself. Everything about me...
Like how I should care more. How that makes a difference. How self-love is still a process, and even in areas like feeling good about myself at the gym should be a thing.
“When I do good, I feel good. When I do bad, I feel bad. That’s my religion.” -Abraham Lincoln
So let’s talk about my fitness wardrobe...
It sucks!
Studies have shown (not that I’ve done any actual research) that when you look good you feel better, and when you feel better you do better. I’m a believer. They’re so many good days to prove so…, but back to this fitness wardrobe.
…it sucks!
So this one’s for the people. The three-year beginners like myself who are still trying even just if it’s just a little bit, and who are still going, even if it’s just the tread mill.
I challenge you to take the first of many steps and do for you!
Amongst the list of other ‘TakeCareofBrittanie’ to-dos, is looking and feeling my best during this health and fitness journey.
New fitness gear is definitely a confidence booster!
Check Out My Get Ready List Below….(Because lists are everything, aaaaannnddd I overthink everything too 😊
1. MAKE A BUDGET- Fitness wear is crazy expensive. And if you’re anything like me it’s so necessary, but so not the splurge that comes with it. TJMaxx and Marshalls are great places to start. I’ve found that Old Navy is always having a sale. And yes YES YES to Target’s amazing line of fun and comfy workout gear.---And you don’t have to buy everything at one time. Two outfits mean you’re committing to two days of working out. Stick with it.
2. STAY AWAY FROM THE SAME OL' SAME OL'--- I’m always sticking with the basics; black, dark, and simple. It’s easier that way, but not always fun. Easy means ‘buy them’ and ‘buy them’ equates to boring when I’m getting dressed. I’ll share some pieces I’ve gotten so far.
3. MAKE A DAY OF IT---After all, it’s still about self-care and doing for you. For myself, I decided to use it as Me Time. I ended up getting my hair cut again! And got my makeup done and absolutely LOVED it. @thehairspeaks did such an amazing job, and it was a pleasure chatting with her about our New Year Plans.
4. Look Good. Feel Good.
Period.
Check out a few of my new pieces!
Outfit #1
OLD NAVY…SALE. The top was 50% off and the bottoms were 40% off! Total steal, and I love the colors! *I actually went up a size because they’re cut just a tad bit smaller.
Outfit #2
I actually got this as a Christmas gift. My boyfriend knows me so well. This whole shoulder showing thing makes me feel sexy! And It’s versatile…or at least that’s how I’m winging it. Would go great with a pair of Wednesday jeans. TARGET!
Outfit #3
First of all…(lol) I love this headband thingy…I got it from Express. I didn’t even think I’d like it. Was one of those things you add to your purchase so you’d equal to the amount eligible for a discount…(cause I always shop a sale)! But I love it now. It adds that bling factor. And the jacket and spandex both came from Target and both super comfortable.
I hope this helps! I’m already feeling good about the new year. Looking it is definitely a plus.
So what do ya’ll think? Are we losing this weight this year for real or not? I’m going to at least look good while I’m doing it!
I also plan to expand my wardrobe with some KNOCKOUT gear! I encourage you to check them out as well! Sign up for their KO mail and receive 10% off your next purchase! See, already saving!
